OVERVIEW

WE’RE FOR JOBS

We make things in this country which are the envy of the world, yet Australian food and grocery manufacturing
continues to invest and innovate.

1 in 3 Australian manufacturing jobs lies in the food and grocery sector. In fact, in 2016-17 the food,
beverage and grocery processing industry directly employed 324,450 people and contributed more than $68 billion to the nation’s international trade.

Our diverse and sustainable industry is made up of over 36,000 businesses, ranging from world famous multinational companies to small and medium enterprises that are often family owned and run. And we’re not just in the urban centres, almost 40% of jobs in food and grocery manufacturing are in regional Australia, providing employment and opportunities in many local communities.
